Doc
Bar was bred for speed, but as a racer he wasn't any good. However, he
left his mark on the cow horse portion of the industry. Mostly in siring
champion cutters. When he was crossed with Poco Tivio line mares the results
were astounding. Including:
Fizzabar.
1961 mare, out of Teresa Tivio. Became NCHA Hall of Fame. NCHA World Champion
Mare, 1960.
Other
by Teresa Tivio / Doc Bar cross include:
- Cal Bar
- Nu Bar
- Docs Remedy
- Docs Haida
- Boon Bar
- Doc Bar Gem
When crossed with
'Susies Bay'the result was:
- Docs
Marmoset, Winner of the 1973 NCHA Futurity.
- Docs Solano,
the youngest horse ever to win an AQHA Championship.
In 1969, 4 of his
offspring would enter the NCHA Futurity, 3 would place 2nd through 4th.
- Docs Kitty
- Doc Luck Bar
- Docs Leo Lad
For almost 20 years
Doc Bars get and grand-get would dominate the NCHA.
- 1970 - Doc
O'Lena, out of Poco Lena, a prominate cutting mare, by Poco
Bueno, would win all four go-rounds at the NCHA Futurity.
- 1971- Dry Doc,
full brother to Doc O'Lena, would also win the Futurity.
-
1973- Docs Marmoset
-
1975 - Docs Yuba Lea
Grand-get:
- 1975 - Lenaette,
Daughter of Doc O'Lena would take the title.

Melody
- 1979 - Docs
Diablo.
1982 - Smart Little
Lena, by Doc O'Lena, won the NCHA 'triple crown.' The NCHA Futurity. The
NCHA Derby. The NCHA Super Stakes. From him came two get that were to
win the Futurity in 1987 and 1988. Making them the only whose sires and
grand sires were Futurity winners

Senor
Doc Bars ability to
pass on his talent was apparent in the 1983 NCHA Futurity. 21 out of the
23 finalists all carried Doc Bar blood.
NOTE:
Many of his get and grand-get competed only in NCHA events, not AQHA.
