Jesse James 1943- 1971
Halter and Performance: 1951 NCHA Reserve World Champion Cutting Horse. AQHA Superior in Cutting (121 points). Reining Points 3. Halter Points 1. Jesse James, a dun, was foaled in Odessa TX. in 1943. His top line extends back to Harmon Baker whos own sire was Peter McCue. As a 2 year old he was purchased by E. Paul Waggoner, one of the premier QH breeders of the time. Jesse was in good company there, among the other stallions in residence at the time was Poco Bueno. While there, Jesse started his early training as a cutter, and rarely used as a stallion. Purchased by Ben Fussell, in 1950 and started showing him in NCHA open divisions, setting him up to be one of the greatest cutters. Used little as a sire, and slightly over shadowed at the time by Poco Bueno, his get only numbered 143. A small number considering his eminence in the cutting world.
