Reggio Emilia, 13 May 2010 - As the 23rd edition of the Salone
del Cavallo Americano officially opened today, the IRHA/NRHA Derby
& Championship show moved into the fifth day of competition.
With a full-slate of ancillary classes being offered, the highlight
of the day was the Euro2.000 added IRHA Open, $1.000 added NRHA
Open and the FEI approved CRI (Concours de Reining International),
run class in class.
Though the CRI showed a three way tie for first place between
Italian rider Nicola Brunelli riding Spat A Blue for Claudio RIsso,
and French riders Gregory Legrand aboard New Doc Peppy Cat and
Franck Perret riding RS Cohiba Olena for owners CDS Quarter Horses,
Brunelli was the only competitor ready to go back into the pen.
The three horse and rider combinations had scored a 216.5, but
once Nicola was over with his run-off, the score that appeared
on the board was a 220. "I knew my horse could do better.
I made the mistakes the first time around and tried to make up
for it went we went back through the in gate. He's a great horse
and deserves recognition", said the head trainer for Risso's
'Roberta's Stables'. Spat A Blue is an eight-year-old stallion
by Spat Olena and out of Arc Joy Surprise (Suprise Enterprise
x Sophie Oak).
